Hyrox FAQs

  • What is HYROX?

HYROX is a global fitness race that combines running with functional workout stations. Every race follows the exact same format anywhere in the world: you run 1 kilometer, complete one workout station, then repeat until you have finished 8 runs and 8 stations. You race against the clock, and because the format never changes, you can compare your time across cities and seasons. It is held indoors in large arenas and convention halls, and it is built for everyday athletes, not just elite competitors.

  • Are you a HYROX affiliated gym?

Yes. Bull Strong Fitness is an official HYROX affiliate in El Paso, TX. That means our coaches and our facility are set up to train you specifically for the demands of a HYROX race, with programming modeled after real competition stations.

  • Do you offer HYROX classes, and when?

Yes, we run dedicated HYROX classes as part of our program lineup. For the current days and times, check our live class schedule on the Schedule page or reach out to the gym directly at (915) 229-7772. We will help you find a class time that fits your routine.

  • Can beginners do HYROX?

Absolutely. HYROX is designed for all fitness levels, and the Open division uses moderate weights with no time limit, so you can finish at your own pace. Most first-timers train for roughly 8 to 12 weeks before a race. Our coaches scale the training to wherever you are starting from and build you up safely. If you want an even more approachable first race, the Doubles format lets you split the station work with a partner.

  • Do I need to be a member or have prior experience?

No prior HYROX experience is required, and the race itself has no qualification standard. You do not need to be a competitive athlete to start training with us. If you would like to train at Bull Strong, the best first step is to book a free intro so we can talk through your goals and the right starting point. You can reach us through the Get Started page or by calling the gym.

  • How is HYROX different from CrossFit?

Both are functional fitness, but they test different things. CrossFit workouts change constantly and emphasize a broad mix of strength, gymnastics, and conditioning, with workouts you often do not know in advance. HYROX is the opposite: it is one standardized race that is identical every time, and it is built around endurance under load, blending running with repeated functional stations. In short, CrossFit prizes variety and all-around capacity, while HYROX rewards pacing, running fitness, and the ability to keep moving as fatigue builds. Many CrossFitters cross over into HYROX easily, and our training prepares you for either path.

  • How do I sign up for a race?

Races are booked directly through HYROX at hyrox.com, where you choose your city, date, division, and wave start time. There is no qualification needed for the Open division. Once you have a race on the calendar, come train with us so you show up race-ready. Not sure where to start? Talk to one of our coaches and we will help you pick an event and build your plan.
